The City of Ocoee gives incentives to City Center West Orange (EB-5)

Rusty Johnson, the present governor of Ocoee (Orlando, Florida), where the project approved under the EB-5 “West Orange City Center” program is located, has once again demonstrated full support for its construction, recently offering more than 8 million dollars in financial and tax incentives.
Ocoee City had already invested more than 10 million dollars in the past year in the expansion of access roads to the City Center, among other contributions to their infrastructure.
The City Center West Orange is a residential and commercial complex occupying an area of nearly 1 million square meters, in one of the noblest areas of Orlando about 3 miles from Windermere, where per capita income per home exceeds $80,000 per year. The complex will be built in three phases and the first phase will feature:
- 500-600 condos and apartments (1, 2 and 3 bedrooms)
- 1 Convention Center
- 2 Hotels
- The possible seat of Ocoee City Hall
- Several Restaurants
- Several Shops
- Several offices
- Several medical clinics
- Other outlets
The project “City Center West Orange,” which had already been approved for the EB-5 program by the Florida State Government in 2014, also received approval from USCIS (United States Citizenship & Immigration Services) in September 2015 under the category “Regional Center.”
Construction of the project is on track with plans and in March 2016 was in its 11th month. The entire area to be built is already clean and the infrastructure (water light, sanitation etc.) has been prepared.
The next phase will be the foundation, which will take place soon after the construction of the latest access roads.In February 2016 the first green cards for the first investors in the City Center were approved.
In the same period, many of its investors were already living in the US and simultaneously enjoying the benefits of permanent residence: public schools, social security, work permit and permission to enter and leave the country without changing their immigration status (pending the approval of the green card) which is a new benefit of the program!.
Since September 2015 the project began the process of bidding for the purchase of materials to be used for this new phase (vertical integration). Completion of the first phase of construction is forecast to be in early 2018.
This means that the City Center is doubly qualified and approved for the program: 1) as direct investment, by the Florida government, and 2) as a Regional Center by USCIS. The advantage of this last approval is that the number of jobs that the City Center could compute to the minimum number of jobs required by the EB-5 program has doubled, which also provides more tranquility and security for its investors.
